£18bn trapped in ‘below average’ pension funds
August 3rd, 2009The Daily Telegraph, The Independent and The Financial Times all ran articles last week highlighting some recent analysis of UK Pension Funds. The research, by How much do I need to retire?, covered the past 10 years and highlighted the following as the perennial underperformers:
Abbey Equity, Friends Provident UK Equity, Scottish Life Managed, Clerical Medical Balanced and Phoenix Life Exempt Managed.
These were dubbed the strangely titled ‘Top 5′ worst performing funds over the period, closely followed by funds managed by HSBC Life, Lincoln, Lloyds TSB and Barclays Life.
